Jean Sayko

Jean Sayko, 93, passed away on July 15 at NHC Healthcare in Bluffton. At the time of her passing, she was in the company of her son Michael (of Austin, Texas) and her caregivers from NHC.

Jean was a long-time resident at NHC and The Palmettos Assisted Living Facility. For years, she was known for her penchant for conversation with staff, residents, and visitors.

Jean and her predeceased husband Augustus (Gus) moved to Sun City from New Jersey in 1997. At the time, they were part of the first group of residents in Sun City. They joined St. Andrew Parish in Bluffton and were founding parishioners of St. Gregory the Great Parish.

While residing in Sun City, Jean and Augustus were active in the fitness center community and computer club. Following the passing of Gus in March 2011, Jean remained an active resident of Sun City and St. Gregory the Great Parish.

Jean is a retiree of AT&T. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she worked in various support and administrative roles at AT&T.

Jean was born in New Jersey and was a resident of the area for most of her life until retiring to South Carolina in 1997.
