Jeanne Edith Brooker Mayfield

Jeanne Edith Brooker Mayfield, 81, widow of John Roger Mayfield, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SC. She was born August 21, 1927 in Augusta , GA. She was the daughter of the late Francis Warrington and Annie Mabel Willis Brooker. She was a retired Civil Service Nurse. She was a member of the St. Helena Episcopal Church, Beaufort, SC. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Navy Relief Society. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a former Georgia Ms. Senior America. She enjoyed dancing; competed in Jazz dance competitions and participated in several Beaufort Little Theater productions.She is survived by two sons, Sonny A. Dixon and his wife Jane of Lawrenceville, GA and Walter Dixon of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Julia Patterson-Massey of Rock Hill, SC, Mary Bundy-Johnson and her husband Brian of Ft. Worth, TX, Jo Newman and her husband, Wallace of Charlotte, NC; one adopted daughter, Charlotte Cushman and her husband, Chris of Port Royal, SC and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one adopted son, Lee C. Mayfield and one brother.Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. Helena Episcopal Church, Beaufort, SC with burial in the church cemetery.
