Jeannette Hawkins Keating

Jeannette Hawkins Keating, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City, Bluffton, South Carolina on November 27th 2022 with her loving son at her side.

Jeannette was born in Macon, Georgia on February 23, 1939 at the Macon Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Harris Winter Hawkins and Edna Jeannette Hawkins. She graduated from Miller High School (class of 57) and continued her education attending Georgia Southern University (Statesboro, GA) where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. One of Jeannette's biggest passions was teaching, of which she enjoyed for more than 30 years in elementary education. She also truly loved animals and very dearly loved all of her cats. She also enjoyed traveling, history, the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Hawkins Keating and by her daughter, Michelle Julia Keating. Jeannette is survived by her son Joshua Mew Keating, one sister, Patricia Louise O'Kelley of Macon, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jeannette's infectious smile could take over an entire room, and her sense of humor kept a constant smile on the face of those who were around her.

A memorial service will be held in the Pinckney Family Cemetery, Bluffton, South Carolina at a later date.
