Jeffery Scott Sasser

December 30, 1970 — April 7, 2022

On April 7, 2022, Jeffery Scott Sasser died unexpectedly while traveling in Charlotte, North
Carolina, of an undiagnosed respiratory illness. He was 51 years old.
Scott is survived by: his parents, Jeffery Rutland Sasser & Brenda Helen Popham Sasser; his
brother, Joseph Craig (Nicole) Sasser; his sister, Brandy Leigh (Jason) Reese; his sister,
Kristine Ellen Sasser; and his daughter, Dallas Sasser. He is also survived by 3 nieces and 3
nephews.
Born December 30, 1970, in Savannah, Georgia. Scott was the very lively and rambunctious
first-born child of Jeff and Brenda. By age 10, all residents within a BMX bike ride from his
Savannah home knew and loved Scott’s smile, sense of humor, and spunky attitude. By the
time he was a teenager, Scott had stockpiled dozens and dozens of friends. He was universally
adored and widely known as the “life of the party.” Rumor has it that when his parents were
away, he was also known to occasionally be the “host of the party.”
Scott loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on River Street with his friends. Looking back at
employment records over the years, his employers may have noticed a pattern of called-in sick
days on St. Paddy’s day. He was not to miss out on the party. Scott had a big heart and
capacity to love, and be loved, by many and enjoyed spending his time with friends and family
whenever possible.
Scott was incredibly talented in many ways and had a knack for picking up skills quickly and
seemingly without much effort. He was competitive and an excellent athlete. He played many
sports with skill and passion but was especially good at baseball in his younger years and
continued to play on many softball teams and leagues throughout his life. Scott loved the Dallas
Cowboys and watched every game without fail. It was a bad day for anyone in his circle when
the Cowboys lost. His favorite college football team, of course, was the Georgia Bulldogs. Go
Dawgs! While enjoying a game, it was not uncommon for Scott to whip up some of the best
mac-n-cheese ever! Like his mom, he knew how to cook some good, genuine, southern food.
A good day for Scott was a hot day, sitting on the beach and relaxing. It was a happy place for
him. Scott loved music and would attend as many concerts as could be afforded. He was
fortunate to live in a warm climate as it was impossible for Scott to drive a car without all
windows down fully and the radio volume turned up to 11. You could hear him coming a mile
away.
Scott loved his family very much. He was so proud of the Sasser name. He would do anything
for those he loved. Favorite pastimes with family were beach vacations, family reunions and
holiday dinners. He never missed out on those. In November of 2020, Scott had the
opportunity to move to Myrtle Beach, SC. It was a wonderful time for him to live next to his
brother, Craig, and his family, and a great blessing to have him close by.
