Jeff passed peacefully from an ongoing illness. His wife was by his side.
64 years old…born 1/22/1960 in Augusta, GA. where he grew up. He graduated from Augusta Area Technical School in 1984.
Jeff made friends easily and loved living in Bluffton. He moved to Bluffton in 2001. He worked in the Maintenance Field in a Supervisory position for many years at assorted Apartment complexes in Augusta. After moving to Bluffton, he worked at the Hilton Head Mall and later at the Sunspire Rehab. When he semi-retired he worked part-time at Enmarket and Panera Bread.
He met his wife in 2004 and married in 2005 at the Methodist Church in Bluffton. They enjoyed life in Bluffton for 18 years.
Some of his favorite things to do was camping with his wife and friends at a variety of campgrounds, socializing with friends at Katies and dancing. Sometimes he would take a drive to the May River for quiet time. He loved country music, especially George Strait and Don Williams.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna and his mother, Anne Mathews who is in ‘assisted living’ in Bluffton. He is predeceased by his father Nicolas Mathews and his brother Steve Mathews. Jeff had no children but he happily took on the role of step-father which he is survived by Michael Begatto, Christopher and Jeanine Begatto and Robert Begatto. Also, grandchildren…Christopher Begatto, Michael Begatto Jr., Nicolas Begatto, Dante Begatto, Sofia Begatto and Arianna Begatto that grew up at there resisidence for 7 years.
If you chose to make a donation in his name either Hospice or your favorite charity. There will a “Celebration of Life” (or a “Wing Ding” as I like to call it) in the near future.
