Jennifer Dye Gowen, 58, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully in her home the morning of June 11th, 2025.
Jennifer was born November 23rd, 1966, in Union City, Obion, Tennessee, the daughter of Donald Ray Dye and Coleene Cox Dye.
Jennifer graduated from Henry County High School in 1985, then went on to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic University, Savannah, Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Jennifer Dye married Brian Roy Gowen, December 8th, 1984, at First Baptist Church in Paris, Tennessee which led to a 40 year long happy marriage with two children, Trevor and Bradley Gowen and eventually one grandchild Brooklynn.
Jennifer worked as an RN in the PCU section of Hilton Head Hospital for several years, then went to work as a registered hospice nurse for Tidewater Hospice for several years after that and retired early as the years of nursing took their toll. Jennifer especially loved solving puzzles, playing board games, and shopping (or as she would say, “retail therapy.”) Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her children and grandchild as often as possible.
Some of our fondest memories and experiences involved her warm, welcoming and loving personality with laughter as contagious as the common cold. Remaining to cherish Jennifer’s memory are her husband, Brian Gowen; children, Trevor and Bradley Gowen; daughter-in-law, Amber Martinez; grandchild, Brooklynn Gowen; brother, Dennis Bradford Dye; nieces, Jamie Dye Emerson, Ivey Dye McWherter and Julia Marie Dye; and great nieces and nephew, Ava, Millie, Kennedy, Mila and Grady.
Preceding Jennifer in death are her parents, Donald Ray Dye, and Coleene Cox Dye and sister, Diana Dye.
The family will receive friends, Friday June 27th, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the funeral home, with Patrick Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Lowcountry Memorial Gardens, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.
Memorial donations in Jennifer’s memory may be directed to The ALS Association.
