Jeremy King Miller

Jeremy King Miller, 74, peacefully passed into the arms of his Savior on January 3, 2026, in Bluffton, SC. At his side was his wife, Clare T. Miller, with whom he proudly shared 51 years of marriage. He was quick with a smile for all, a joke was always on the tip of his tongue, there was not a baby or dog in the world that did not immediately love him, and his family, faith, and country were the core values of his life.

He is survived by his four daughters, all of believing faith: Lt Col (Ret.) Katharine Corliss (m. Col Christopher Corliss), February Johnson (m. Capt Kipp Johnson), MAJ Caroline Booth (m. MAJ(P) James Booth), Virginia Newell (m. LTC Daniel Newell). He was delighted by all of his grandchildren who include: Christina Corliss, Anne Corliss, Margaret Booth, Wesley Booth, Samuel Booth, Lucas Booth, Joshua Newell, Jonathan Newell, Matthew Newell, and Molly Newell. We know he is joyfully reunited with his grandson, James “Russell” Booth, III.

“Jerry” was born on July 2, 1951, at his favorite place on earth, West Point, NY, to the late MG Frank D. Miller and Margaret P. Miller. He was an Army “Brat” and spent his young life traveling wherever the Army sent their family to include Panama, Vietnam, and Korea. He was the 5th of seven children and is survived by all of his siblings: COL (Ret.) Frank Miller, COL (Ret.) Brink Miller, Maile Doyle, MAJ (Ret.) Robert Miller, Margaret Miller, and Polly Downey. He attended various schools throughout his childhood but graduated from T. C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA.

Jerry then attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and proudly graduated in the class of 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research. He was a 6th generation in an unbroken line of West Point graduates (the first being Israel C. Woodruff – class of 1836), and two of his daughters would continue this legacy to be the first 7th generation unbroken graduates in West Point’s illustrious history. This was one of the legacies of his life that he was unbelievably humbled and honored to be a part of, and he deeply loved that Long Gray Line and his Company I-1 band of brothers. Jerry served as an officer in the Branch of Armor in the US Army, stationed at Fort Benning, GA, with the 2/69 Armor Division. He served at Ft. Benning for 5 years and resigned/honorably discharged from the Army in 1978 with a Meritorious Service Medal in the rank of Captain.

His hard-working mentality carried him throughout his adult life, as he strived to bring his utmost best to each company for which he worked. He was a corporate recruiter for Electronic Data Systems, VP of Sales for Consumer Health Services, and Director of Recruiting for Perot Systems Corporation during the early 1980s.

After several moves, he brought his family to Boulder, CO, where he became the VP of Sales for companies like Access Health and McKesson Health Solutions, and VP of Sales for Axispoint Health Systems from the mid 1980s through the early 2000s. During this time, Jerry raised his children and became a surrogate father to more college students than can be numbered through his leadership roles in Officer Christian Fellowship (OCF) to Army, Air Force, and Navy ROTC detachments at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

In 2007, he joyfully returned to West Point, NY, where he divided his time between working and providing for his family (job headquarters still based in Colorado) and ministering to West Point Cadets through his continued leadership with OCF and other volunteer positions at the West Point Cadet Chapel.

After many faithful years of service, he and Clare moved to Bluffton, SC, where he was officially diagnosed in 2021 with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Jerry bravely accepted this diagnosis and fought through the symptoms of his illness with grace and dignity —never forgetting his love for his family — through the very end.

Micah 6:8 says, “[God] has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” We can think of no better way to summarize the life and legacy of Jerry than through those words. He was kind to all, fun-loving, easy-going, always approachable, and could carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He never feared choosing the harder right instead of the easier wrong, passed on his faith and his character to his children and to all who knew him. He was beloved and will be greatly missed.
