Jerlene "Jerry" Tillman Jerlene "Jerry" Tillman was lifted to the kingdom of Heaven on the wings of angels as she parted from this world Sunday, March 15, 2015, after battling an extended illness. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, she will be missed by many. The joy, love, and laughter she bought to us will be cherished by all whose hearts she touched and will help to sustain many through this time of such tremendous loss. She was born January 20, 1934 in Pontotoc, MS, to Clelon and Millie Moss and had many brothers and sisters. Jerry taught Sunday school for many years and was also a Cub Scout leader while residing in Memphis, TN. There she met Henry Owen Tillman from Beaufort, SC while he was employed by Southern Airlines. Their union in marriage began August 12, 1966 beginning their journey to Ridgeland, SC where they resided for many years, retiring to Athens, GA. Jerry was a dietician and nursing assistant who loved "her patients". She indulged family with delightful meals inspiring many to cook just like "Aunt Jerry". She adored her mother and father in law, Ruby and Wade Tillman, whom in return loved her as their own. Jerry is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winfred Evans, son Ricky Evans, great-grandson Blake Cleveland Owen Denton. Jerry is survived by her husband Henry, children Shirley (Cecil) Wimbs of Athens, GA, Bobby Evans (Shelby Indyk) of Rowland, NC, Ricky Evans, deceased, of New Albany, MS, Debbie (Tom) Herman of Asheville, NC, Marcia (Rick) Jackson of Seneca, SC. Her sister Earlene Ferguson of Ponotoc, MS and brother Jack Moss of Lacedale, MS. Grandchildren, Allen Wimbs, Kevin Wimbs, Jason Hogsett, Lance Evans, Summer Allen, Corey Evans, Brooke Lee Hefner, Amanda Denton, and Troy Wadsworth. Step grandchildren Ricky Jackson, Nicole Boone, Pam Warren, Cameron Warren and 15 great-grandchildren and beloved nieces, nephews, and sisters and brothers in law. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18 at 1 o'clock PM at the Maye Baptist Church in Bluffton, SC. The funeral service will begin at 3 o'clock PM, officiated by the Reverend Brian Sherwood. Burial will be at Ridgeland Cemetery in Ridgeland, SC. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the Dementia (Alzheimer's) Foundation.
