Jesse James Washington, 81, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home in Hardeeville, SC. Mr. Washington was born in Georgetown, SC to Silas Jackson and Lucille Washington. Mr. Washington is a retired truck driver and was owner of S & J Trucking Company. He was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Hardeeville SC where he served as an elder. He was very active in the building of the Hardeeville Kingdom Hall and he loved to work outside. Mr. Washington is survived by his wife, Sarah Simmons Washington of Hardeeville, SC; two sons, Jesse James Washington, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and David Maurice Washington of Hardeeville; five daughters, Jeanette Washington of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Kathy Washington of Taylors, SC, Karla Washington Adams (Equnike) of Brooklyn, NY, Wanda Washington (James) of Philadelphia, PA, Amelia Gow of Marquette Michigan; brothers, Ransom Gamble (Rether) of Georgetown, SC, Frank Gamble (Diane) of Rochester, NY, John Gamble of Georgetown, SC, and Madison Jackson (Deborah) of Rochester, NY; sisters, Phyllis McKnight (John) of Atlanta, GA, Florence Linen (Herbert) of Georgetown, SC, Rosa Hurrel, of Georgetown, SC, Mary Ruise (Lendell) of Orlando FL, Calethia Franklin (Peter) of Rochester, NY, Gertrude Thompson of Bradenton, FL, Ruth Priest (Paul) of Maryland, Luverta Ruise (Herman) of Jacksonville, FL, Anna Holmes of Georgetown, SC, Mary E. Scott (Elijah) of Rochester, NY, Trannie Moore of Georgetown, SC, Rosena Addison of Rochester, NY and Oleta Lawhorn (Edward) of Rochester, NY, his special nieces Renee Brown of Charlotte, NC and Sharon Grant of Bluffton, SC and cousin, Paul Jackson of Pensacola, FL, and 4 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. Mr. Washington is predeceased by three brothers, Peter Gamble, Ivory Gamble and Thomas Jefferson Jackson. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many friends who helped Mrs. Washington care for Mr. Washington during his illness. Special thanks to Tidewater Hospice nurses, Gail, Jody, Lisa, Chris, Anne and Mona, and to aunts Leola Washington and Minnie Jackson of Georgetown, SC. Funeral services will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 1171 Coleman Loop, Hardeeville, SC on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton SC
