Sister Jessie Mae Garvin Sister Jessie Mae Garvin, the daughter of the late Dixie Bell Singleton and Bert Lee Miller was born on September 13, 1945 in Hampton County, South Carolina. Sister Jessie Mae Garvin received her formal education in the public schools of Jasper County. She was a member at Padgett Branch Baptist Church in Gillionsville, South Carolina. She later became a certified nursing assistant; doing what she loved best...helping others. She was formerly employed at Jasper County General Hospital and she later retired from The Cypress of Hilton Head. She loved Worther Original Candy, Fried Tilapia, and Pepsi Cola. On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, Sister Jessie Mae Garvin departed her earthly home. She joins in death her late husband, Isiah Garvin; Dixie Bell Singleton (mother), Bert Lee Miller (Father), Lottie Bell Smith (Grandmother), Walter Smith (Grandfather), Annie Mae Harvey (Sister), Richard "Bubba" Smith (Brother). She leaves to cherish eight children: Keith Garvin, Edward Garvin, Sherri Gordon of Philadelphia, PA, Lisa Garvin Albert Garvin, Kairo Garvin, Jacobi Garvin, Brittany Garvin, all of Ridgeland, SC; one son-in-law Craig Gordon of Philadelphia, PA; six sisters, Jannie Smith (Russell) Stuart of Philadelphia, PA, Judie Smith, Janice Pierce, Vernetta Singleton, Bethany, Deloris Williams, both of Hampton, SC; two brothers, Al Jerome Singleton of Ridgeland, SC and Chappell Doctor of Hampton, SC; five brother-in-laws, six sister-in-laws; eleven grandchildren, April Garvin, J. Michael Garvin, Craig Gordon Jr., Dasia Garvin, Trey Garvin, Brianna Gordon, Kaira Garvin, Khaliyah Garvin, Kinari Richardson, KamDyn Richardson, JasMyn Aiken; 1 great grand, Skylar Richardson, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends from Ridgeland General Hospital and The Cypress. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, December 20, 2014 at Padgett Branch Baptist Church in Gillisonville, SC with burial following at Brunson Cemetery.
