Joanne Heverling (Joey) Wolff

Joanne (Joey) Heverling Wolff of Hilton Head Island died October 15, 2015. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 16, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Brannan and Bently Thomas Heverling. She lived in Pittsburgh most of her life. She was a graduate of Duquesne University and did post graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. Her employment career included advertising, public relations, industrial relations and public speaking. Joey is survived by her beloved husband, Norman Peter Wolff and a daughter, Jeanne Wolff Thompson (F. Gurney Thompson Jr.) of Denver; and her son, Norman Christopher Wolff (Maryanne Walsh Wolff) of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are ten precious grandchildren, John Brennan ( Adrienne), F. Gurney III (Mary) , Phillip Bently Thompson, Sydney, Joey, Andy, Kylie, Brady and Sebastian Wolff and two great grandchildren, Kayla Ann and Lucian Blake Thompson. Others include her brother in law, Dr. Richard Lanz; a niece, Molly and three nephews, David, Jeff and Steve Lanz and their families. She was predeceased by her sister, Peggy Lanz. Joey was a PEO and a member of the Gourmet Club, Country Club of Hilton Head, Book Club of Hilton Head Plantation and Hilton Head Plantation Yacht Club. Her volunteer work included the Arts Center, Rotary reader in primary schools and active in many bridge organizations. She and her husband traveled extensively. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church, Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. The family requests memorial donations in memory of Joanne Wolff be made to the Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church, Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island.
