Joe Cocola

Joe Cocola, 60, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 31, 2018 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after battling cancer.  He leaves his wife Erin Cocola, his daughters Danielle McGarvey (Randy McGarvey) and Ashley Cocola (Andrew Richie).  He leaves behind his 2 beloved grandchildren, Rylan and LelaNicole McGarvey, whom "Didi" adored and cherished.  Also, his mother Rita Cocola, sister Lisa Armento (Michael Armento), and nephew Anthony Armento. He was proceeded in death by his 17-year old daughter Nicole Marie Cocola and his father Joe Cocola.

He was born and raised in Philadelphia to Joe and Rita Cocola.  After exploring different areas, he settled in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and enjoyed a varied career in the hospitality industry during which he developed many lasting and special friendships.  With his ever-evolving curiosity for new adventures he became a commercial real estate appraiser for the last eighteen years.

His quick wit, determined spirit and fun-loving nature was the foundation on which his family was built.  Although his love of family was paramount, he also loved cooking, traveling, and all things nature (expect the no-see-ems of course!)

Visitation of friends of family will be held at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 3:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joe's name to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry or Jasper Animal Rescue Mission.
