Joe Howard Newberry, Sr.

Joe Howard Newberry, Sr., age 76, of Ridgeland, SC and formerly of Red Ash, VA died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Mr. Newberry was born on July 21, 1942 in Raven, VA, the son of the late Sherman and Margie Newberry. He attended Richlands High School and later began his career as a coalminer, retiring after over 25 years of service. Outside of work he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Mr. Newberry was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Marie Newberry. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorcie Casey Newberry; daughter, Teresa Newberry Binns (Robert); son, Joe Howard Newberry, Jr. (Marilyn); brothers, James Sherman Newberry (Deanna) and Basil Edward Newberry (Sue); sisters, Shirley Buskill and Judy Fox; and grandchildren, Kristin Elizabeth Binns and Christopher Lee Smith. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
