Joel Franklin Cannington Jr.

Joel F. Cannington, 80, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Veterans Victory House, Walterboro, SC.He was born in Cummings, SC on November 27, 1927. He was the son of the late Joel F. Cannington Sr. and Catherine Searson Cannington.He was retired Mst. lst Sergeant with the US Army serving in World War II, Vietnam and Korea. He was a retired General Contractor. He was a Baptist and enjoyed fishing.He is survived by his children, Peggy C. (Ken) Cooler of Ridgeland, SC, Martha C. McMillan of Hilton Head Island, SC, Regina C. (Joey) Webster of Ridgeland, SC, and Kathy C. (Lavarn) Lucas of Hilton Head Island, SC; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Allen Tillman, Clay and Kate Lucas, Garrett Lucas, Warren Smith and Morgan McMillan. And five great grandchildren, Jocelyn, William and Ben Tillman and Alexa and Hailey Lucas. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Rheba Enfinger Cannington, son in law, C McMillan and granddaughter, Chasity Smith.Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 6581 Old Salkehatchie Hwy, Early Branch, SC. The family will receive friends at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC from 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm and Sunday.
