John Robert €Œbob†Haskett

July 16, 1928 — October 15, 2015

John Robert "Bob" Haskett, 87 of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 15, 2015 at home with his two children by his side. Born in Toronto, Ontario Canada to Frederick and Irene Haskett, he spent most of his childhood years in Ridgeway, Ontario. He moved to the United States, became a citizen, and drafted into the United States Air Force where he served as a photographer during the Korean War. Upon completion of his service, he attended college at Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management. Bob went on to pursue a career in country club management at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, NY and the Country Club of Buffalo, Williamsville, NY where he retired in 1990. Bob enjoyed his time at home, where he entertained and prepared exquisite meals for friends and family, especially after a round of golf. He had many past times to include flying, boating, playing cards, fishing, watching NHL and NFL games, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Marie Haskett, his mother Irene Plumstead, his father Frederick Haskett, and stepdaughter Linda McKnight. Bob is survived by his children and grandchildren Mark McCleary Haskett and grandson Zachary Haskett of Beaufort, SC., Sally Foley Newport of Chesapeake, VA, her husband Scot, and their children; Cpl. Brian Newport of Holly Ridge, NC, Sydney Newport and Hunter Newport of Chesapeake, VA,. Nancy Ann Shatzel of North Tonawanda, NY and her children Christopher Shatzel and his wife Samantha of Lockport, NY and Garrett Shatzel of Phoenixville, PA, Philip McKnight and his wife Leslie of Williamsville, NY and Clair Ormston and her husband Callum of Orchard Park, NY. The family of John Robert Haskett wishes to thank Hospice of the Low Country for their selfless dedication to dignified palliative care and for helping Sally and Mark through a most difficult time. A memorial service will be held Thursday October 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3080 Okatie Highway Bluffton, SC 29910. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to The Wounded Warrior Foundation Wounded Warrior Project PO BOX 758517 Topeka, KS 66675 A memorial service will be held Thursday October 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm in St. Lukeâ
