John Charles Almori, son of Ettore and Frances (Wandzy) Almori, passed away on Saturday March 29th at the age of 85, after a tough battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
John grew up in Avon Connecticut where he met and married the love of his life, Sandy Woodard. They had 49 wonderful years together before he lost her to cancer.
They leave behind three children, John Jr (Laurie), Shelly (Albert), and Jeffrey (Laurel); four grandchildren, Brittney, Chelsea, Gabriel, Elijah; and one great granddaughter Adeline Capri. John is also survived by his sister Mary Eisenberg, sister in laws Pat, Karen, Nancy, Deb, and Bette, many cousins and nieces and nephews.
After Sandy died John spent many hours in his basement at his scroll saw to keep busy. He created many wood ornaments and crafts which touched many lives. His "holding" crosses were sent all over the country and given to so many people.
John also kept busy volunteer ng at his church, Trinity Episcopal in Collinsville, often getting there early to start the coffee.
While going to Silver Sneakers exercise classes he met a special friend. His Jersey Gal, Jo Lavia.
They enjoyed each other's company for many years before John moved to South Carolina to live with his daughter and grandson. John let go of this world to join Sandy and our Lord with all his children by his side listening to his favorite Blugrass music.
The family would like to thank all his many caregivers and medical staff who treated John with love and dignity.
Plans for a memorial service and burial will be scheduled in Connecticut at a later date.
