John William (Bill) Dimmich, 90, of Bluffton, SC died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his home.
Bill Dimmich was born on April 28, 1925 in Williamsport, IN, the son of the late Clarence R. Dimmich and Verna Dolbee Dimmich. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a submariner in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Bashaw. He graduated from University of Illinois and worked as an architect for many years in Seattle, WA, and in West Lafayette, IN at Purdue University.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband to Martha for 40 years. He was generous with his time and talent, outgoing and interested in everything, and maintained a positive outlook on life. He enjoyed spirited debates on politics and other issues of the day, and was also easy going and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered as a distinguished architect, craftsman, and aficionado of jazz music, and will be deeply missed by all.
Bill Dimmich was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Dimmich and daughter, Cara W. Dimmich. He is survived by his wife, Martha L. Dimmich; sons, John Christopher Dimmich (Nikki) of Cary, NC, Cort Addison Dimmich of Yakima, WA, and stepsons Robert L. Simpson (Elizabeth K.) of Nashville, TN; daughter, Stacy Anne Dimmich of Seattle, WA, and stepdaughters Margaret Ann Robison (William R.) of Columbia, VA, and Patricia L. Mower (Phillip) of Sunnyvale, CA; grandchild, Alwynne S. Dimmich, and step grandchildren Sarah Jean Spence (Brandon), Margaret Schlichter (Kyle), Michael Robison (Kimberly), Matthew D. Robison, Kate Mower, and Kristen Mower; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Knolton and Alexandra Spence.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
