John Francis Conley, Jr.

John F. Conley Jr.Of Hilton Head Island S.C. died on August4, 2013 John was born in Lawrence, MA on June 11, 1940. He was the oldest of seven siblings of the late John F. Sr. and Florence (Reidy) Conley. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Mary (Hajjar), his son John 3rd (Janet), his grandchildren Kelcey and Caleb, and his brother -in-law Ed Hajjar. In addition, he leaves his sister Eileen of Andover, MA,his brother Jimmy (Kathy),of Methuen MA, his brother Timmy of Andover, MA and his sister-in-law Shirley of Salem NH. He was pre-deceased by his brother Thomas, his sister Kathy Dolan and his brother Michael. John also had many nieces and nephews. John attended St. Michael's Elementary in No. Andover. He graduated from Central Catholic High School Lawrence MA.and Boston College, Chestnut Hill,MA. He was a lifelong Eagle Fan. He served in the National Guard in the 1960's. Upon graduating from BC, he joined Haskins & Sells Accounting Firm (now Deloitte) and earned his CPA. He then moved into the corporate world and joined John Brown Pic as the Controller. His dream in 1989 was to have his own consulting Firm JFConley & Co. where he helped troubled companies with their bottom line and excelled as a turnaround specialist. John thoroughly enjoyed travel and visited many cities in the USA, Europe, Asia, Russia and South America for both work and pleasure. When he wasn't working, John was a devoted husband and father and was actively involved in coaching youth sports. During his free time, John was an outdoorsman enjoying tennis, cross country skiing, hiking and running. He ran numerous road races as well as the Ocean State Marathon. An avid sports fan, John enjoyed the success of his favorite teams, the Bruins and Patriots. He was an avid reader in many areas but especially enjoyed World War II history and American politics. Upon retiring to Hilton Head in 2001, he loved spending time at the beach. He also took up Bridge, playing at the local Bridge Club and worked hard to sharpen his skills. His friends said he was a pleasure to be with because he was genuine. Two of his good friends Mark Thibodeau and Steve Allen asked him if he could help them out at their Antique Shop lithe Damn Yankees" and John often mentioned that it was the best job he ever had. His favorite thing to do was to walk the bike path and golf course of Indigo Run with -his beloved, devoted Rescue Dog IICinco" - everyone in the neighborhood knows Cinco! I Services will he held on Saturday August 10, 2013 at 10;00 AM at St Francis By the Sea Church 45 Beach City Rd Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. The Sauls Funeral Home is making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hilton Head Humane Association 10 Humane Way, Hilton Head Island 29926.
