John Francis Deil
A man who always told his kids they could "sell it on the corner" and "make a fortune," John Deil was a true believer in the American Dream and the free market and spent a 37-year career on the floor of the NYSE. John died Thursday, May 14th in Bluffton, SC, where he had retired. He was born Jan 4, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY (East NY section), was raised by his parents, Jean Deil (maiden Maffucci) and Francis (Frank) Deil, attended Blessed Sacrament School and Bishop McLoughlin High School, and served the U.S. Army in Korea. In 1967, he married now ex-wife Dolores. They moved to Staten Island in 1970 where they raised their children, Mary, Patricia, Joseph, Regina, and Michael John and were parishoners of St. Rita's Church. He is survived by his 5 children, 5 grandchildren (Evan, Corey Matthew, Soluna, Stephen), and sister, Rosemary Deil. A constant advocate for taking your vitamins, he we will be remembered for his unique qualities - his love of Lionel trains, his fondness for Hondas, pasta, olive oil, and midnight snacks, family vacations in the station wagon, and his enthusiasm for hobbies like CB radios, button-making, and the photography and videography of his family that left a gift of memories to treasure. Services will be held 11am Wed May 27th (viewing at 10am) at Sauls Funeral Home (90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC 29910). He will be laid to rest in Beaufort National Cemetery.
