John E Garfola, 88, of Sun City Hilton Head passed away on August 23, 2013 in his home.
Born in Monessen, PA on June 17, 1925 he lived most of his life in the Pittsburgh, PA area until 1996 when he moved to Sun City Hilton Head. John believed living in Sun City was like living in paradise.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on September 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton.
Internment will be on September 14, 2013 at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
John was married to Cass on September 12, 1948. They were happily married for 65 years.
John is survived by his wife, Cass and their three children, Jessica (Charles) Wright,
John (Chu) Garfola Jr. and Rick (Dana) Garfola and his six Grandchildren: Mike, Sean, Cassie, Elizabeth, Adam and Evan.
John served his country as a combat medic in the China Burma India Campaign in WWII. He returned home to marry Cass and raise three children. His greatest joy was his family. When his children left his home as adults he talked to them every day and he often talked to his grandchildren. A perfect vacation to John was a house full of his children and grandchildren. His family is his legacy.
