John William Glasser

December 14, 1925 — February 23, 2014

John William Glasser, 88, passed away on February 23, 2014 at his home in Ridgeland, SC. He was born on December 14, 1925 in Lushton, NE to the late Howard F. Glasser and Sarah Solomons Glasser. He was a retired communication technician for United Telephone Company of the Carolinas. He retired in 1981 after 24 years of service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and served in Europe and the Pacific and was awarded The Bronze Star. He was of the Christian faith and was confirmed on December 7, 1941 in The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Grahamville, SC. He is survived by one sister, Jane Glasser Stanley (Wallace) of Ridgeland, SC; two brothers, Charles R. Glasser, Sr. of Holly Hill, SC; James Elliott Glasser (Jean Walsh) of McClellanville, SC; eleven very special nieces and nephews, Ann Milligan, Lynn Glasser, Julie Harrison, Nell Boone, Robert Glasser, Allen Glasser, Sarah Burch, Cecilia Glasser, Eugene Stanley, William Stanley and Kelly Mayer; two stepsons, Steven Lovell, Sr. (Kaye) and Bruce Lovell (Nell); two step grandchildren, Jennifer Cole and Steven Lovell, Jr. and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 35 years, Willie Mae Craft Glasser and daughter, Caroline Ann Glasser. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 28, 2014 in the Grahamville Cemetery in Ridgeland, SC. Memorial donations may be made to the Grahamville Cemetery Fund, 6986 Lowcountry Dr., Ridgeland, SC or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910 Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.
