John Lydon Holmes, Jr.

John (Jack) Lydon Holmes Jr., 77 of Bluffton passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at NHC Healthcare, Bluffton.He was born in Brighton, MA on December 22, 1934 to the late John Lydon and Ruth MacKay Holmes.He was retired from Raytheon Missile Defense Contractors for thirty seven years where he worked closely in the development of the patriot missile. He loved being a sea captain on his private boat. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and was an avid reader. He was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the jail ministry for ten years.He is survived by his wife of thirty six years, Jeane Dorie Holmes; two sons, John Holmes III and Ken Holmes; two daughters, Claire Holmes and Karen Holmes; one brother, Bill Holmes; three sisters, Shirley, Pamela, and Barbara; two step-daughters, Trudy McDonald and Virginia (Ron) Roberts; and one step-son, Brian McDonald. He was predeceased by one son, Kevin Holmes. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Andrews Chapel, Pinckney Colony Road, Bluffton at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 22, 2012.
