John Edward Lee

November 18, 1950 — September 11, 2023

Deacon John Lee age 72, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2023 with his family by his side.  John was born in Lansing, MI under a wandering star.  Making lifelong friends along the way and mentoring many.  Two years ago, John and his wife Midge moved from Idaho to Bluffton, SC to enjoy retirement after many years of dedicated hard work.

John loved God, his family and his friends.  He had a tender heart, filled with compassion for those in need.  Serving God and His people brought him great joy. He was nicknamed “the Deacon of Love.” He loved to laugh and tell his children and grandchildren bedtime stories based on his true-life adventures.  He was a loyal and true friend.  John had a passion for music of all kinds and enjoyed sharing that passion with others.

John is survived by Midge, his wife of thirty-five years, two children, Sarah (Rev. Aaron) Prosser, Jason (Angela) Lee, six grandchildren, Samuel, Eleanor, Edmund, Carla, Elizabeth and Darian. His in-laws, nieces and nephews were his chosen family.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Anthony’s Mission Parish, 23049 Whyte Hardee Blvd, Hardeeville, SC 29927, on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 10:30 am.  Rosary will be prayed prior to Mass at 10:00 am.

An inurnment will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian, Idaho at a later date.
