John W. Mccabe

Deacon John was born on July the 4th, 1944. He and his wife Cathy were married on December 10th, 1967, and they have 2 children: Colleen Harrington and John McCabe II. Deacon John was a High School educator in New Jersey for over 20 years. He taught both Social Studies and Accounting. Deacon John was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on May 10th, 1986 in the Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey, and was assigned to St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Deal, New Jersey, were he was active in the many activities and sacraments of parish life. Deacon John and Cathy moved to Sun City in January 2011, and he was assigned to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, where he served for many years. Deacon John was incardinated into the Diocese of Charleston in 2018. In his later years, Deacon John loved to play golf, go to the movies, and spend time socializing with his neighbors. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church with burial at 1:00 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Saint Gregory The Great with a 5:30 pm Prayer Service.
