John Raymond Servat, 90 of Bluffton, SC and formerly of New York died Monday, July 21, 2014 under the care of Hospice Care of America.
Mr. Servat was born in France on June 15, 1924, the son of the late Jean Pierre Servat and Leona Cabbot Servat. He was a veteran of the French army, serving during World War II. Before retiring to Bluffton, he worked in Manhattan for over 40 years. While living in Bluffton, he was involved with Memory Matters, Caring Neighbors, and was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Pierre Servat. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gladys Servat; nephews, Roger Servat (Patricia) of Cumming, GA and Andrew Servat (Debbie) of Long Island, NY; sister-in-law, Germine Servat of Long Island, NY; his adopted family of 23 years, Giberto and Mary Mateus, their children, Camilo and Natalie Mateus of Bluffton, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Andrew's Chapel, Pinckney Colony Road, Bluffton, SC.
