John M. Sutton

John M. Sutton, age 59, of Bluffton, SC died Friday, February 26, 2016 at his home. Mr. Sutton was born on September 8, 1956 in McClellan, AL, the son of Thomas R. Sutton and Gladys Huffman Sutton. He received his formal education from Bob Jones University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education, as well as a Master’s Degree and a Specialist Degree in Education Administration. He was a member of the Bob Jones University Alumni Association and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He began his career working as a science educator and ultimately joined the Pastoral staff of several Christian schools. He then served in the United States Army as a linguist and counter-intelligence officer. After being honorably discharged, he worked in the computer field for several years and ultimately served as a Pastor in Kentucky until his health forced him to retire. While living in Bluffton, he was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Beaufort, SC. Mr. Sutton is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Pamela Sutton; son, Stephen Sutton of Dade City, FL; daughter, Jennifer Sutton of Bluffton, SC; mother, Gladys Sutton of Okatie, SC; sister, Amy Sutton of North Bend, OR; and brother, Brian Sutton of Bluffton, SC. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at Victory Baptist Church, 378 Parris Island Gateway, Beaufort, SC 29906. The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Creation Evidence Museum, P.O. Box 309, Glen Rose, TX 76043.
