Joseph Miles Altman, Sr.

Joseph Miles Altman Sr., age 88, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on March 27, 2023 at NHC Bluffton.

Joe was born in Coolidge, Arizona on December 18, 1934 to the late Henry Miles Altman and Willie Margaret McLain Altman.

Joe joined the US Navy in 1955 and retired as a Seabees in 1977.  He returned to Ridgeland and began his new career as a Ridgeland Policeman in 1977.  In 1978 he retired as a Policeman but continued with the Town of Ridgeland until retiring in December 2000.

He married Teresa Ann Sparks on May 20, 1995 and is survived by his beloved wife; his sons, Miles Altman (Bonnie), Mark Altman (Tammy); grandchildren, Sara Altman, Caleb Altman, Mark Altman Jr., Justin Altman; great grandchildren, Mason Altman, Autumn Altman, Eisley Altman. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Sommer Altman and Jason Altman.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 with the service beginning at 3:00 pm at Coosawhatchie Baptist Church, Ridgeland, SC with burial to follow at Grahamville Cemetery, Ridgeland, SC.
