Joseph Barry was born November 29, 1939 and raised in Valparaiso, Nebraska. He was one of 9 children of the late George and Margaret (Larkin) Barry. After graduating Valparaiso High School, Joe served a tour of duty with the Army Medical Corps in Hanau, Germany. After his service he became an X-Ray Technologist, managed the X-Ray Radiology Department at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, later becoming president of the Nebraska State Radiologists Society. Joe then accepted the opportunity to work for Eastman Kodak Company X-Ray Products Division as a Sales Representative. After 35 years of living and working throughout the United States and in many countries, Joe retired from his position as General Manager, Vice President of Sales for the Health Imaging Division of Eastman Kodak. His passion for working with people and public speaking lead him to start his own company, Longs Peak Life Seminars, where he was a motivational speaker and a member of the National Speakers Association. Joe was a gracious, modest, and generous man offering a warm smile to everyone he met. After fighting a long illness, Joe passed away on February 12, 2018. Joe is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Rosemary, his children and their spouses daughter Lori (Doug) Matthews; son Tim (Patty); son Tom (Seana). He was “Papa Joe” to six grandchildren, Rianne and Kelsey Matthews, Amanda and Lexi Barry, Zack and Matt Barry. Joe is predeceased by his brother Mike Barry, sister Pat Keenan, and mother-in-law, Mary Stoffel. He leaves behind sisters Rosemarie Randall, Mary Barry, Rita Coleman, and brothers and sisters-in-law Bob (Joanne), Dick (Verna), and Bill (Dee). He was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepchildren and grandchildren: Colleen Webster; Christy (Chris) Gage, daughters Sydney and Mackenzie; Richard (Betsy) Webster, children Abigail and Graham; brother-in-law, Jim Stoffel (Pam) and sister-in-law, Carol Erbland. A memorial mass will be held at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC, on Thursday, February 22, at 10:30 am. A Celebration of his life will be held on July 4th, 2018, at the homestead in Raymond, NE. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Hydrocephalus Association www.hydroasso.org.
