Joseph G. Carnelli, Sr.

Joseph G. Carnelli, Sr., 79, of South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Known for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, generous heart, and willingness to help others, he was truly one of a kind.

A proud plumbing contractor, Joe worked hard throughout his life and took great pride in providing for his family. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Joe leaves behind his beloved wife, Deborah; son, Joseph Carnelli Jr. and his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Diana Norris, and her husband, Russell; grandchildren, Daelon, Isabella, Olivia, Cecelia, and Julia; and his cherished dogs, Luigi and Vincenzo. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Joe loved his Boston Red Sox, Giants, and UConn basketball. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Baby Joseph G. Carnelli III; his brother, Anthony Carnelli III; and his parents, Nancy and Anthony Carnelli.

Joe will be remembered for his humor, generosity, love of family, and the many memories he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2026 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd. Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. 

A second memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am, Sunday, August 30, 2026 with a celebration of life to follow from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm, at Cassidy Hill Vineyard, 454 Cassidy Hill Rd. Coventry, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice or Wounded Warrior Project.
