Joseph W Eberhard V was born on December 1, 1953 in St Augustine, FL to Joe and Evelyn Eberhard. Joe was a man of many talents and rarely found anything he couldn’t do. He spent time in his younger years riding bulls, being a rodeo clown and was trained as a brown belt in Tang Soo Do. He later owned his own businesses framing houses and building fences, and also spent time as a foreman on a ranch managing angus cattle and championship cutting horses.
He joined the Army in 1982, where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic and later became an instructor for the Apache simulator. While in the military, he proudly served being among the first to get sent over during Operation Enduring Freedom where he was stationed in Qatar. He spent several years in Iraq and traveling the Middle East as a contractor after his tour. He finished out his military service in the reserves and retired from the military with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Joe was an avid fisherman of anything in any body of water. He loved being on the ocean, deep sea fishing with his family and spending his days shrimping. He instilled his love of seafood in his kids and grandkids often having large seafood boils. He loved to cook especially from scratch and especially if he caught it or grew it himself. He could be found in the kitchen teaching anyone who would listen and curating new recipes to share. He was incredibly proud of what his kids accomplished in their lives. He loved to tell everyone about his children and their achievements. He was equally as proud of his grandchildren and was lovingly known as Papa. He will forever be remembered for his ability to make others laugh and his invaluable knowledge of life that he eagerly shared with his children and grandchildren at any opportunity. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Evelyn Eberhard, and his brother, Jeff Eberhard. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Jenny Eberhard; daughters, Shannon (Jason) Elkins of Cottonwood, Alabama; Jessica Eberhard of Beaufort, South Carolina; and son, Joey (Jessie) Eberhard VI of Crestview, Florida.
He also leaves behind three precious grandchildren, Seth (Brantley) Johnson, Charlotte Eberhard, and Briar Eberhard-Sands as well as a soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Barrett Johnson.
Additional survivors include his sisters: Paula Feuchtinger, Janice Summers, and Laura Gerstein, along with beloved nephews, Mike Summers, John Eberhard and their families.
