Joseph William Hajek, Jr.

Joseph William Hajek, aged 93, devoted husband to Rose Marie Carta Hajek, passed away peacefully at his home in Bluffton, South Carolina on May 23, 2024.

Born in Middletown, Connecticut on September 28, 1930 to the late Joseph William Hajek and Mary Magdalene Hajek, he attended Woodrow Wilson High School prior to serving in the US Navy as Electrician’s Mate Second Class from 1948 to 1952.  Before his retirement in 1990 he was employed by Connecticut Light and Power for 36 years.

Joe was an avid fisherman and New England Patriots fan.  When asked what he loved to do he would always respond with a smile “Eat!” and he enjoyed the many Italian and Polish dishes his loving wife Rose Marie prepared for him.

Besides his wife of 67 years, Joe is survived by two sons, William Joseph (Beth) and Robert Carl; his brother Thomas James and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Joan Rusconi.

Funeral services will be held at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton South Carolina at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
