Joseph Edward "Kistler" Malphrus

Joseph Edward Kistler Malphrus, 65, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on June 16, 2023 at Coastal Carolina Hospital after a short illness. He was born on June 28, 1957 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Jacob Lyman and Marjorie Hutson Malphrus. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a lifelong member of Great Swamp Baptist Church where he loved to serve the Lord. He enjoyed helping out at Step of Faith Christian Academy because the smiles he could bring to the teachers and children made him happy. He loved being in the river on a boat. He also loved fishing and taking his children to the Hampton County Watermelon Festival Fishing Tournament and going with them to Savannah, GA to explore every weekend, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Malphrus of Ridgeland, SC, five children, Garrett Malphrus (Mary) of Coosawhatchie, SC, Andrew Malphrus of Ridgeland, SC, Jesse Malphrus of Ridgeland, SC, two daughters, Grace Malphrus (Sawyer) of Springfield, GA and Madison Malphrus of Ridgeland, SC. Two grandchildren, Mason and Dalton Malphrus of Coosawhatchie, SC. Six siblings, Jay Malphrus of Hampton, SC, Danny Malphrus (Lynn) of Walterboro, SC, Leila Bolton of Hampton, SC, Debbie Starns (Mike) of Ridgeland, SC, Dicie Peeples (Danny) and Johnny Malphrus both of Nixville, SC.

He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Bonnie Warren of Ruffin, SC.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Great Swamp Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Great Swamp Baptist Church with a burial following in the church cemetery.
