Joseph Puhak

Joseph A. Puhak, 75, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Sept. 10, 2026. Joe was born in Hazleton, Pa. on July 14, 1951 to Andrew and Helen Puhak. They were very happy to welcometheir son as he already had two sisters.

Joe graduated Penn State University and was employed at Dupont in Delaware for many years. Upon moving to Virginia, he utilized his talents working in Washington DC for the US Government.

Joe retired and relocated to Bluffton, SC where he built a lovely home making many good friends and neighbors. He volunteered at several hospitals and nursing homes with “Sammie” his Therapy dog to bring tender love to others. Sammie and Joe did every thing together and put smiles on the faces of those in need. Joe and Sammie were buddies for 15 years. Today they are both together with our Lord and Savior looking down at us saying “Peace be with you all”.

Joe was a proud member of the AFT Group, making lifelong friendships that he truly valued, appreciative for their love and support. He visited many of our national parks throughout the years, capturing their scenic beauty with his skill of photography.

Joe is lovingly survived by his sister, Marie Tolerico of NJ, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews, and great great niece. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Theresa Passarella of Pennsylvania.

As per Joe’s request, all services will be private.
