Joseph Robert Resch, Jr., 84, arrived to his final resting place on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Joseph was born in New York, New York to Joseph R. Resch, Sr. and Margaret Dalton Resch on January 9, 1940. He grew up in Parkchester, NY and later married Audrey Lapina Resch in 1969. In 1972, they moved to Malverne, NY, where they lived for 42 years and raised their three children. In 2015, Joseph and Audrey relocated to Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Joseph attended St. Helena’s Elementary and High School in Bronx, NY. He then graduated from City Tech and the New York School of Design. He worked for JP Morgan for 37 years, and during that time served at Vice President of the Building Department. While living in New York, he was very active in the Boy Scouts as Troop Leader, Advancement Chairman, and Eagle Scout Chairman. He was also very active in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Audrey Lapina Resch; his son, Joseph Robert Resch, III (Susan Jordan); his daughters, Stephanie Ranghelli (Jason), and Jillian Marr (James); his brother, Robert Resch; sisters, Margaret Sywed and Catherine Resch; sister-in-law, Patricia Genova; grandchildren, Johnathan Ranghelli, Mia Ranghelli, Colton Ranghelli, Brady Marr, Ryan Marr, and Devyn Marr; step-grandchildren, Desiree Varrecchia, Jonathan Varrecchia, Michaela R. Jordan, Justina M. Jordan; two step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Resch.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Boy Scouts of America, or a local American Legion.
