Juan Jose Lopez

Juan Jose Lopez, 56, of Hilton Head Island, SC died September 14, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 31, 1958 in Mexico, the son of the late Jose and Maria de Jesus Ledezma Lopez. He worked as a painter in the construction industry. He was Catholic and helped start the Hispanic Ministry at St. Francis by the Sea in 1998 and was a Knight of Columbus. He often volunteered his time and services to local service organizations including Volunteers in Medicine, the Children's Center of Hilton Head, and Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He was also a counselor and volunteered at the Latin Council of Hilton Head. He loved music and helped organize the Hilton Head Island Latin Festival at Shelter Cove. He is survived by his wife, Diana Lopez; son Corporal Erik Lopez (USMC) (Whitney Lorraine); daughter Viridiana Lopez-Orr (Earle, III); 4 brothers, Roberto, Leonardo, Mario, and Francisco; 6 sisters, San Juanita, Dora, Minerva, Diana, Maria de Jesus, and Sylvia; and 6 grandchildren, Aiden, Avery, Mikael, Eva, Brody, and Yeshaiyah. A Memorial Mass will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
