Juanita (Sparks) Cleland

Juanita Sparks Cleland, 82, of Ridgeland, SC passed away, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at NHC of Bluffton, SC.

Nita was born in Portal, GA to Joe Sparks and Dovie Collins Sparks. She was a member of Tillman Baptist Church. She worked at Holiday Wear in Ridgeland for over 35 years. After retiring, she was a housekeeper at Live Oaks Hospital. She later became a caregiver for many local families.

Nita was a dedicated wife, mother, and Nanny, who loved to cook large meals for her family. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Her greatest accomplishment was loving and caring for her children.

Nita is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald Cleland; daughter, Anita Faye Daley (Tripp); brother, Bobby Joe Sparks; sister, Robina Duncan; sisters-in-law, Pug Bekich (Ted) and Willie Mae Sparks; two grandchildren, Brandy Hexamer (Nathan) and Clay Daley (Calla); and five great-grandchildren, Spencer Hexamer, Timber Hexamer (Brittany), Bellah Hexamer, Bryer Daley, and Kinley Daley. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Sparks and RL Sparks; sister, Ethel Cleland (Norris); and sister-in-law, Helen Nettles (Jr.).

The family would like to thank NHC and Affinity Hospice for assisting with her care.

A funeral service will held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grahamville Cemetery.
