It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Marsha Beckler, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, dedicated hospital professional, gifted artist, and longtime volunteer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Judith’s courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease came to an end on July 5, 2026. She was 82 years old.
Judith’s love of art began early and remained a defining part of her life. As a young girl, her elementary school teachers recognized her natural artistic talent and encouraged her parents to nurture it. In high school, her art teacher urged her to pursue art professionally, leading Judith to attend Pratt Institute. Although family circumstances, including her father’s health, prevented her from completing her studies there, her passion for art and design never faded.
She went on to work in interior decorating, where her eye for beauty, color, and form found meaningful expression. Later, Judith joined the team of volunteers at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she dedicated 28 years of service and ultimately became Chair of Weekend Volunteers. Her deep appreciation for art continued throughout her life, and she generously shared that passion with others. She taught art classes through the University of South Carolina’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and served for many years as a Pastels Facilitator at the Sun City Art Club. Whether through teaching, volunteering, creating, or simply encouraging others, Judith inspired a lasting love of art and design in those around her.
Judith’s nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her three children, Laurance, Bryna, and Audra, and their spouses Jeff and Melanie, as well as her five grandchildren, Alexander, Victoria, Wesley, Cooper, and Liam. She shared 63 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Stuart, whom she loved with unwavering devotion.
Judith was a brilliant and accomplished woman, known for her warm and caring personality. She had a generous heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, gifted artist, volunteer, teacher, and friend will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who carry her memory forward. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the remarkable woman she was and the lasting impact she made.
A private celebration of life service to celebrate Judith’s life will be held by the immediate family during the Thanksgiving holiday season, one of Judith’s favorite times of year.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause close to the family’s heart.
