Judith Lenore Raney

Judith Lenore Raney, lovingly known as Judy, was born September 28, 1943, in Conneaut, Ohio, and passed away July 29, 2026, in Sun City, South Carolina, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.

Judy was the daughter of Jay and Evelyn Kellogg. She met her husband, Edward Raney, while both were on camp staff at Camp Cleveland. Their relationship grew from that shared work and friendship, and they were married on April 24, 1965. Together, they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Judy graduated from Harbor High School and went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Kent State University. She later completed master degrees from Westminster and Baylor University. She devoted her life to caring for others through her work as a Speech Pathologist, beginning her career in Youngstown and Akron, Ohio. Judy also started and operated her own speech practice in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She later finished her professional career as a Speech Language Pathologist in Jasper County, South Carolina.

Judy and Ed moved to Sun City in 2003, where she continued to be an active and engaged member of her community. She served as a Neighborhood Representative and was involved in the Computer Club, Garden Club, and the Ballroom Dance Club. Judy’s warmth, dedication, and presence made a lasting difference to the people and groups she supported, especially her friends through ballroom dancing, computing, and her church community at Church of the Psalms.

Judy will be remembered with deep love by her husband, Ed Raney, and by her children: Paul Raney (Tanya), Jill Schwadron (Mike), Bruce Raney, and David Raney (Jackie). Judy is also survived by her grandchildren: Summer Schwadron, Sandy Schwadron, Sabrina Schwadron, Addison Raney, Sidney Raney, Samantha Raney, Miller Raney, Adam Raney (Anna), Emily Macek (Dan), Lukas Raney, Tess Raney, and her great grandchildren: Jack Raney, Elliot Macek, Margot Macek, Molly Macek. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara DiSauro and Becky Lopp (Loran).
