Judith Clare Rumsey, passed away peacefully at home with family on September 15, 2024, in Bluffton, South Carolina after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born February 7, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Ruby May and Albert Norman Young, Judy was a free spirit who loved sports, especially baseball. Her favorite team was the Phillies, the Cubs, the Mets, the Braves – really, wherever her hat landed. She even cheered on the South Carolina Sand Gnats!
Judy was a devoted mother to her three children and husband Clifford, a loving sister, and a loyal friend. She enjoyed interior decorating, reading, traveling, and a successful career in real estate. Judy was a top sales producing agent and a PHH Home Equity Relocation Specialist for realtors William Raveis and Prudential-Connecticut.
After Judy moved to Atlanta, Georgia she became a real estate broker with Prudential-Atlanta and then with Metro Brokers. She earned many distinguished realtor designations including Licensed Real Estate Agent, Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate of Realtor Institute (GRI), Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®), and Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC). Judy’s most cherished designation within the real estate industry was as a REBAC instructor. She held countless training classes with hundreds of real estate professionals who wished to become certified ABR® agents.
Judy leaves her family to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 62 years, Clifford Rumsey, Sr. of Bluffton, SC, a son Clifford Rumsey, Jr. (Mary) of Avon Lake, OH, daughters Deborah Rumsey (Kelly Patton) of Clearwater, FL and Kimberly Rumsey (Raymond Hill) of Bluffton, SC, sister Norma Myers (William) of Boothwyn, PA, and five grandchildren: Colleen Kaminski (Matt), Michael Rumsey, Matthew Rumsey, Tommy Rumsey, and Maggie Rumsey. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Norman Young, her mother Ruby May Young, and sister Jill Gallihue (Tom).
Because Judy received exceptional care from Hospice Care of the Lowcountry for her Alzheimer’s disease, the family requests that in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be made in her memory to:
