With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of June Dolores Hendry Parsons Scuito on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on June 6, 1928, in Joliet, Illinois, June was the beloved daughter of Edward and Lillie Hendry.

June is survived by her sister Aileen Abrams of Folsom, California, her brother Hugh Hendry of Powell, Wyoming, her sons George Parsons (Kathy) of Spring Valley, Illinois, Kevin Parsons (Arlene) of Snohomish, Washington, her daughter Patti O’Neal (Bryan) of Bluffton, South Carolina and her stepdaughter Joanne Wollack of Sterling, Illinois. June was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pat Epperson (Keith), her brother Ed Hendry (Marge), her stepson John J. Scuito, her son Kim Parsons (Ann Ganze), and her husband John Scuito. June leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In the early 1950s, June owned and operated June’s Sandwich Shop in Oglesby, Illinois, where one former employee stated that June “was mom and confidant to all that worked for her.” After relocating to Spring Valley in the late 1950s, she worked in customer service at Bassick’s and later served as secretary to the president of Matthiessen & Hegler Zinc Co., earning the esteem of the board of directors who elected her assistant corporate secretary. June further excelled as secretary to the manager at G&O Manufacturing.

In 1980, June and her husband John Scuito relocated to California, where she served as secretary to the director of nursing at Chapman College. Following retirement, the couple settled in Florida.

For the past two decades, June resided with her daughter Patti and son-in-law Bryan in Bluffton, South Carolina. An avid traveler, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Ireland in 2016, accompanied by her son Kevin, enjoying 15 unforgettable days touring the Irish countryside. June also embarked on cross-country adventures with her sister Aileen, creating cherished memories along the way.

June lived a life filled with richness and joy, leaving an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Following an interment ceremony on May 26, 2024 at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley at 1:00 PM, a Celebration of Life will take place at a location to be determined. May June's spirit continue to inspire love and laughter in the hearts of those she touched.
