June M. Taylor, aged 92, of Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2024. June’s love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of how she lived her life. Her love and kindness toward others touched the hearts of all those she met, especially those of family and friends.
Born July 27, 1932, in San Mateo, California, her parents were Corrine and Henry Mitvalsky. She often said she was born to dance and teach children. Her early years were marked by her innate talent for dance, performing as a professional dance team with her two-year-older brother, Gerald, in the San Francisco area during the late 1930s and early 1940s. She was chosen as Queen of San Mateo at age 5 and Queen of Burlingame at age 8. She pursued her education with vigor, working summers at Yosemite National Park to pay for attending Fresno State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education teaching, and was named Best Student Teacher in her senior year. After graduating in 1953, she married and began elementary school teaching of 2nd and 3rd grade classes, in Casper, Wyoming, Washington DC, and Williamsburg, Virginia, shaping young minds with her passion and dedication, before embarking on raising a family of three children. In 1982 June embarked on a successful real estate career, first in Dallas, Texas, and later in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, until retiring in 2006. In addition to her professional life, she was always involved in the local community church, as well as social and athletic activities. She was an avid tennis and bridge player and formed many lifelong friendships as a result. She captained a women’s doubles tennis team at a Dallas country club that played home and away matches with a team from Mexico City and played USTA and social tennis in Colorado and South Carolina.
She met the love of her life in 2004 and was married in 2005 to her surviving husband, Julian Shedlovsky, Sun City Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her three children Teresa Taylor Stein of Vero Beach, FL; Julie Lynn Taylor of Hilton Head, SC; and David Randal Taylor of Highlands Ranch, CO; stepdaughters Erika Joyce Stockwell, Longmont, CO and Sarah Jane Zimmerman, Greenwood, VA; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three siblings: brothers Earl and Gerald Mitvalsky, and sister, Beverly Moore. June’s deep and unwavering faith in God has brought her home to be with our Lord but she will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A private burial service was held at Low Country Memorial Gardens in Bluffton, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life was held October 12, at Central Church, Hilton Head, and another on November 7, at Cherry Hills Community Church, Highlands Ranch, CO.
