Kathleen “Kathy” Bell

October 25, 1924 — March 7, 2017

Kathleen “Kathy” Bell, formerly of Irwin, entered into eternal life on March 7, 2017. She was 92 years old. She had been living with her daughter, Sandra Sargo, in Bluffton, SC, at the time of her death. Kathy was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Coventry, England to Henry and Minnie Rowley. She married Alexander “Alec” Bell on Aug. 30, 1947, in Coventry, England, and soon after, they immigrated to East McKeesport, PA. Kathy led a full life, touching many people through her kind words and thoughtful actions. She was an active member of Linway Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School, and her contributions of needlework for her church’s Bazaar were much sought after. For several decades, she and Alec could be found at the church on Friday morning, delivering Meals on Wheels to people in the community. She worked for many years for Irwin Photo Lab. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Wayne Bell; two sisters in England, Evelyn Slater and Doris Miles; a brother, Henry Rowley, and a family friend, Jenny Armen. Her memory will live on in the lives of her daughter, Sandra Sargo, of Hilton Head, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Bell, of Slippery Rock; and son-in-law, Tony Sargo, of Pleasant Hills. She will live in the hearts of her grandchildren and great-granddaughters, Jason Bell, Sierra and Silvi Bell, of Evans City, Rachel, Troy and Alexandra (Lexi) Painter, of Shady Side, Md., Alexis Sargo and Matt Wilhite, of Hilton Head, S.C., and Michael Sargo, of New York City, N.Y; her sister Glenda (Brian) Blakemore and numerous nieces and nephews in England, Canada, Australia, and Bequia. She touched the lives of her extended family, Marilyn and Bill Roberts, Elizabeth "Sis" Stitt, Glenda Mae and Rich Taylor, and close family friends, Bill and Carmella Knight. A Celebration of her life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 25, at Linway Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, with Pastor Eric Dennis officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to East Allegheny Meals on Wheels, Linway Presbyterian Church, 600 Lincoln Highway, North Versailles, PA 15137.
