Kathleen Joanne (Jo) Boston

March 9, 1934 — November 4, 2017

Kathleen Joanne (Jo) Boston departed this world peacefully on November 4, 2017 at her home in Moss Creek Plantation with her husband of 61 years, John W (Bill) Boston, and one of her caregivers, Patricia White, at her bedside.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, James and Daisy Muir, her sister Daisy White, and brother, James Muir. Jo was born in Rockford, IL on March 9, 1934, and with her family, moved to Portland, OR in 1942. She met Bill there in 1954 and they were married in 1956. Jo had two children, James Eugene (Deceased) (Martha) and John Richard (Karen) of Wichita, KS. Jo, Bill, and the two boys relocated to Youngstown, NY in 1961, and then to Suffern, NY in 1972, then on to Brookfield, WI in 1982, before retiring to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1995. Jo said, “Let me live someplace 6 months and I will make it feel like we have lived there our whole life!” Jo was not only a wonderful and compassionate mother, friend, partner, and homemaker, but with her ever present smile, she was welcomed wherever she went, and ended up becoming involved in local community activities: Chairwoman of Parks and Recreation Commission; President of Woman’s Civic Guild; Presidential Campaigns; etc. She was an avid tennis player for 20 years and then played golf for 25 years.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Sara, Seth (Emily), Heather (Ben); step-grandchildren, Katie and Mathew; great-grandchild, Easton, and step-great-grandchildren, Evan and Maddie. Her grandchild, Michael, preceded her in death. A private family service will be held at a future date to be determined. Cremation will be performed by Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC. Her wish was “to be set free, to follow the ocean breezes to wherever they take me”, along her beloved Oregon Coast. A special remembrance to her dedicated and giving caregivers, Eugenia McLean, Patricia White, Teresa Jones, Angela Bolden, Jasmine Miller, and Carol Miller that took such thoughtful and loving care of her during the past year.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care – 10911 N. Jacob Smart Blvd, Suite B Ridgeland, SC 29936 would be greatly appreciated.
