Kathleen "Kate" Smith

Kathleen “Kate” Smith (nee Meehan), 87, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at St. David’s South Austin Medical Hospital, TX. Kate was born on December 2, 1935 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late John and Mary Meehan. Kate was a 1957 graduate of Trinity Collage in Washington DC. Kate was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church where Kate was active with the welcoming committee. Kate is survived by her sons, John Smith of Townsend, DE, Kevin and Nan Smith of Dripping Springs, TX, and James and Kerry Smith of Yardville, NJ; daughter, Maureen and Stephen Mackara of Townsend, DE; grandchildren, Kaitlin Mackara, Stephanie and Danica Mackara, John Mackara, Kevin and Dana Smith, Julia Smith and Maddie McCraken, Alexa Smith, and Amelia Smith; and great-grandson, Arlen Mackara.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Trinity Collage in Washington DC, Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund or the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Building Fund.
