Kathleen Ann (Stewart) Adams

September 5, 1945 — November 22, 2024

Kathy was born in Owosso, Michigan on September 5, 1945, the daughter of the late Nathaniel Stewart and the late Edith (Gurske) Stewart. Upon graduation from Owosso High School in Owosso, MI, Kathy attended Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

Upon graduation, Kathy joined F&R Lazarus Company in Columbus, Ohio and initially worked in the Lima store. Kathy returned to Lazarus in Columbus and worked in various positions, including assistant buyer, buyer, department manager and store manager. In 1980 became divisional merchandise manager for intimate apparel. In 1986, after leaving Lazarus, Kathy opened Aleda’s, a women’s clothing store and a year later opened The Sock Exchange in two locations offering women’s and children’s socks and hosiery.

Kathy and her loving husband Dean met in 1977 at T.G.I. Fridays and were married in 1980. They lived in the Columbus area until 1993 when they moved to North Hampton, NH. During their time in Columbus, Kathy’s spare time was spent hosting family and friends at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Kathy loved to decorate for the holidays and that continued after the move to New Hampshire. For many years, Kathy would plan the annual Christmas party for friends, neighbors and business associates. Another passion for Kathy was investing in stocks and for many years she was the President of The Investment Club, an investment club for women in the Seacoast area of NH.

Kathy cared for others and assisted many friends who were facing a variety of health issues. She was always there to help a friend in need.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dean Adams; stepdaughters Kristen Marie (Adams) Prochaska, Jacquelyn Anne (Adams) Soderling and Wendy Erin Adams; Grandchildren Riley Taylor, Hannah Sherwood, Ben Soderling, Anna Soderling, Eli Prochaska, and Anja Prochaska; her brother Robert Stewart, her sister-in-law Roberta Stewart, her niece Christina Stewart, her sister-in-law Nancie (Adams) Robertson and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
