Kelia Ann Head

Kelia Ann Head (née Allen) of Beaufort passed away peacefully in her home on Easter Monday morning, after a brave fight with cancer.

She was born on Nevember 24th, 1956 in Savannah to Carroll Jerome Allen and Thelma Lee Allen (née Smith). She grew up and lived the majority of her life in Chatham County, GA, and Jasper and Beaufort Counties in South Carolina.

As a child, she lost herself in the forests, rivers, creeks, and marshes of the lowcountry, which instilled in her a lifelong love of nature and the water. A favorite memory of hers was of her and her father getting stranded in marshes at low tide, and eating their fill of oysters until the tide came back in.

She spent her career as a skilled and respected paralegal in Savannah, Atlanta, and Hilton Head, after which she was a successful small business owner.

Kelia thoroughly enjoyed gardening, taking a particular interest in the native flora of the lowcountry, and loved cultivating native bushes and flowers. She also enjoyed canning and cooking with the various fruits and vegetables that she would grow.

She was also an avid reader, and a music lover, playing in the band in school, and playing guitar and keyborads for fun as an adult. She also enjoyed photography, cross stitch, and travel.

One of her greatest joys was that as a hostess for family get-togethers. She loved to open her home, and her kitchen, to her immediate and extended family so that we could gather, talk, eat, renew relationships, love, and support through good times and bad. Kelia's house was always a focal point of love, support, and family.

A devoted mother, she is survived by her son, Tim Lewis, her siblings Karen Smith, David Allen, and Kim Nettles, multiple neices and nephews, and her loving and loyal dog, Lexie.

She will be eternally missed.

The family will be having a private ceremony before spreading her ashes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
