Kenneth Layton Brewton, Jr.

Kenneth Layton Brewton, Jr. peacefully went to be with our Lord & Savior Jesus on May 15, 2024 at his home in Chattanooga, TN.

Ken was born July 5, 1935 in Claxton, GA to Kenneth L. Brewton, Sr. and Will Ena Deloach Brewton. Ken graduated from Estill High School in 1953 as valedictorian. Ken earned a degree in chemistry from Clemson University. He also attended Georgia Tech and completed the executive business program at Columbia University. He was the former President and CEO of Clariant corporation.

Ken loved life and never met a stranger. He enjoyed making memories, boating in the May River with his daughters, and later with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, snow and water skier, pilot and fisherman.

Ken is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Dyal Brewton; their twin daughters, Jan B. Rose (Dr. Walter Rose), Joy B. Cook (Dr. Greg Cook); his brother, David Brewton; four grandchildren, Preston Rose, Rebecca Rose, Dr. Ryan Cook (Susie), Dr. Brandon Cook (Kaylee) and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, May 22, 2024 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 4611 Beaver Dam Rd, Ridgeland, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church or to Samaritan’s Purse are appreciated.
