Kenneth Robert Hockemeyer Sr.

Kenneth R. Hockemeyer Sr., 71 of Hardeeville, died peacefully at his home, Monday evening, March 23, 2009.He was born February 1, 1938, in Midland, MI son of the late Clarence and Minnie (Smith) Hockemeyer. He attended Midland County Schools graduating from Midland High School in 1955. Ken married the former Dana Hamilton on November 27, 1957. He retired from the Dow Corning Corporation where he worked for 35 years. He was a member and Deacon of Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton. He enjoyed golf, singing in the church choir and studying his bible. He had a deep quiet faith setting an example for family, friends and strangers he met. He showed a deep love for his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his wife, Dana; four sons, Kenneth (Linda) Hockemeyer Jr. of Beaverton, MI, John (Becky) Hockemeyer of Midland, MI, Bill Hockemeyer of Coleman, MI and Edward (Breea) Hockemeyer of Lake, MI; four daughters, Joye Cooney of Hardeeville, Diane (Steven) Fisher of Kittrell, NC, Ruth Hockemeyer of Bluffton, and Robin (Terry) Wehrman of Hot Springs, AR; ten grandchildren., Sara, Elisabeth, Jack, Kyle, Jordan, Crystal, Jeff, James, Jarrod and Gracelyn; three great grandchildren, Reagan, Cameron and Christian; two brothers, Fred (Joan) Hockemeyer and James (Linda) Hockemeyer of Hope, MI; two sisters, Connie (Lonnie) Sprenger and Carol (Tom) Kenyon of Coleman, MI; brother in law, Leo Fitzpatrick of Beaverton, MI and sister in law, Diane Treichel of Hardeeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Fitzpatrick and three grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole and Haley.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Maye River Baptist Church, 3507 Okatie Highway, Bluffton, SC at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to National Neiman-Pick Foundation (nnpdf@idcnet.com); Tidewater Hospice or the Maye River Baptist Church.Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
