Kenneth "Ken" Arthur Wright, born February 21, 1943, passed away on July 4, 2026.
Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Frances Cucchia Wright, who passed away on February 8, 2023, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Geist and her husband, Scott Geist; his son, Peter Wright and his wife, Amy Wright; his four cherished grandchildren, Kevin Geist, Brent Geist, Nathan Wright, and Kayla Wright; and his brother, Charles Wright. Ken was the youngest of two children born to Warren and Eleanor Wright.
Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Ken graduated from Curtis High School before attending Syracuse University, where he earned a bachelor's degree and was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. Following graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Naval officer. He entered active service in the United States Navy as an Ensign on December 18, 1964, and proudly served aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59) during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Lieutenant on December 16, 1967.
After his military service, Ken built a successful career as an engineer, working in both the private sector and with the Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station (NAVSSES). He and Fran made their home in Delran, New Jersey, where they spent 31 years raising their family and creating countless memories.
In August 2004, Fran and Ken retired to The Crescent in Bluffton, South Carolina. Retirement afforded him the opportunity to enjoy a slower pace of life, spend time with friends and family, pursue his hobbies, and appreciate the Lowcountry community he came to love.
From his years in the Philadelphia area, Ken became an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He was thrilled to witness the Eagles win two Super Bowls and was never shy about cheering, "Go Birds!" He was also a history enthusiast who enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 13, 2026, at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina. Interment will follow.
