Kim Michelle (Chaplin) Vildibill

July 11, 1969 — March 30, 2024

Kim Michelle (Chaplin) Vildibill of Poway, California, passed away on March 30th, 2024, at the age of 54. Kim brought energy, laughter, and compassion to all our lives. Her constant thoughtfulness and creativity carried through in all she endeavored. Kim's caring heart and warm, smiling eyes will be greatly missed. Kim was born in Norman, Oklahoma to Wallace and Patricia Chaplin on July 11, 1969. She was the third child of four and the youngest daughter. In her youth, she was an active and enthusiastic thespian, spending much of her time in musical theater. She competed on her high school cheer team and even knew how to hula. Kim graduated from Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, California, and from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. At SDSU, she met her future husband, Jeffrey Vildibill, and in 1999, Kim married Jeff in Santee, California. They were married for 24 years and have two children - daughter Lauren and son Joseph. Kim worked for Intuit Inc. for most of her career in various roles, including tech support, procurement, and mergers and acquisitions. And while Kim enjoyed her career, her biggest passion was her kids. Kim was always participating in school activities, fund raisers and sporting events. She was a recognized advocate for those with special needs and the biggest cheerleader on everyone's sidelines.  Kim dedicated much time to the Girl Scouts of America, Poway Performing Arts Center, Challenged Athletes Foundation and San Diego Ducks Sled Hockey. We will always remember Kim's passion for creating memories. She loved to plan parties and build photo memories in albums, wall art and frames. Her love for cooking and trying new foods expanded all our horizons discovering tastes and smells we may otherwise not have ventured to. She could sew anything and decorate any room. We will always remember Kim's caring and loyal heart - she would remember the smallest details that mattered most to us. She had a wicked sense of humor and was a vault with our most tender feelings and deepest secrets. As best said from her favorite musical, Wicked, "...because we knew you, we have been changed for good." Kim is survived by her beloved children, Lauren, and Joseph; her dogs, Cooper and Maddy; her ex-husband Jeffrey Vildibill; her parents Wallace and Patricia Chaplin; her siblings, Marcia Buie (Scott), Brenda LaRouche (John), and Eric Chaplin (Gwen). She also is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
